Penn State Attendance Down

It is a big weekend in State College with the Penn State football team's home opener on Saturday at Beaver Stadium.  But along with the challenges for the Nittany Lions on the field there are also new challenges in filling the stadium seats.  There is a well documented decline in attendance but it is not limited to Beaver Stadium.  Among the places where you can see some empty spaces is in the recreational vehicle lots.  It is not quite as crowded here on football weekends.  Coach O'Brien and others have been stressing the importance of filling Beaver Stadium.  It has a far reaching impact for the university athletics and the local economy.  Sold out games used to be the norm and there are still more than ninety thousand on hand for most games but new incentives have been introduced trying to get back to the capacity crowds.
