Police say they now know who was behind the wheel, when a van hit and killed a 6-year-old Amish girl in Clearfield County.
The tragic accident happened Tuesday morning on Route 410 near Mine Road. The little girl was on her way to school when she was hit by a van that was taking other Amish
men to work.
State Police said that 42-year-old Lori Pearce, of Burnside,
was driving the Ford Van that hit the child. She was crossing the
street with her siblings to catch a school bus. That's when the van hit
the girl. She was taken home and pronounced dead by the county coroner.
Pearce told police that she didn't stop because she thought she hit a deer.
No word at this hour whether the driver will face charges.
