A Centre County woman lost her eye in a freak hunting accident earlier this year and now the man who shot her will be paying a hefty fine but he won't be going to jail. Donald Lansberry told a judge this morning he thinks of May 13, 2009 every day. That's when Lansberry shot a woman walking her dog in this wooded area near Boalsburg. Lansberry thought the victim, Elizabeth Strickler was a turkey. She lost an eye and Lansberry was ordered to pay Strickler within a year just over 64 thousand dollars in restitution plus another 40 thousand to her insurance company. Judge Bradley Lunsford admitted he was considering jailing Lansberry especially since Lansberry didn't help her immediately after she was shot. But Strickelr told Lunsford she was satisfied with the sentence.
