Tim Burns, a candidate for Congress in the 12th Congressional
District, will hold a town hall meeting on health care reform to give voters the
opportunity to have their voices heard about the reforms President Obama and
Congressional leaders have proposed.
While members
of Congress, including U.S. Senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey, have used the
summer recess to hold public meetings to hear peoples concerns about the
proposed changes to our nations health care system, Congressman John Murtha has
chosen to only hold controlled conference calls and avoid answering tough
questions on the impact the proposed changes will have and who will pay for the
reforms, said Burns. I think it is critical that the public be heard, and
that is why I have organized a forum for the people to come and express their
views. I have invited Congressman Murtha to attend so that he can hear directly
from people, and I will give him the opportunity to share his views on why he
thinks a single payer health care system is the best solution, stated
Burns. The town hall
meeting will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2009, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the
Johnstown Masonic Temple, 130 Valley Drive in Johnstown, PA. The event is open
to the public and all concerned citizens are welcome to attend. Attached is a
copy of the letter Tim Burns sent to Congressman John Murtha inviting him to
attend the meeting.
