CamTran Offering Free Rides For Seniors To Go Vote

The Cambria County Transit Authority is offering free rides to polling locations on Election Day for senior citizens.

CamTran is teaming up with the Area Agency on Aging for the initiative.

All you have to do is schedule a ride through CamTran that will pick you up from one of several rural-area senior centers including Cresson, Ebensburg, Forest Hills and Jackson Township.

“The older voters want to vote in person. So, what they do is they try to get to the polls, however they can. A friend, a relative, whatever, and when that doesn’t work, I feel as a county we need to step in and help.”

Reservations are required and individuals need to sign up for the free rides by Thursday, October 31st.

Qualifications for the free rides are that seniors aged 65+ must have a valid transit ID card, seniors ages 60-64, in all participating areas except Jackson Township, must have proof of age and you must be registered to vote
through the Cambria County Elections Office.
