A donation drive for victims of Hurricane Helene taking place from 1:00 to 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon in Windber.
It happened specifically at the Windber Fire Department, along Somerset Avenue. Organizers from our area tell us they originally came up with the idea with a friend. One of them says he saw videos of people from certain areas online
begging for help.
“So I reached out to them. They told me I had to get in contact with Green River, which I did. They have already set us up with a campground to stay at while we’re there to help. They’re accepting any donations
that we can get.”
“An emergency can happen anywhere. And what we try to teach our kids is American unity. You know, we’re all one people. We just try to help whenever we can”
