Johnstown Police Chief Richard Pritchard has resigned from his position, the city’s solicitor has confirmed

City Solicitor Dave Andrews says Pritchard’s decision to resign is effective immediately.

Andrews says that City Manager Art Martynuska accepted the resignation on Wednesday.

Johnstown City Council will now vote to confirm the resignation at their next meeting in November.

Andrews adds that Captain Price will now serve as the “captain in charge” of the Johnstown police force.

Pritchard had served as the city’s police chief since April of 2021.
