17-year-old Dies in Plane Crash

We are learning some tragic news out of Clinton County. A 17-year-old girl has died after the Cessna plane that she was piloting crashed. Pictured in the video is a map of the approximate location of where we’re told that crash took place. You can see the crash sight is just North of Piper Memorial Airport. That’s just on the other side of the West branch of the Susquehanna River.

First Responders and Investigators were seen throughout Dunnstown for most of the day as they combed the crash site, trying to figure out what happened. Investigators say the 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene after the single-engine Cessna 172 crashed into the woods along Allegheny Street at about 10:30 Thursday morning.

We spoke with neighbors who say they were nearby when the plane crashed. Dunnstown Resident Dan Hunter saying: “We really didn’t see anything, we were working on this house that we are restoring. I heard a very loud explosion, felt a concussion from it… vibration. And from where the crash site was, we have to be probably 500 yards if not further from it. We walked down to see what was going on and that’s when we learned about the crash.”

The FAA says their Investigators along with the NTSB are currently in charge of the investigation.
