Salt shortages are making it harder for people to find the supplies they need to keep their sidewalks and driveways clear
Bantly Hardware in Johnstown received a large shipment of salt Monday but not without some difficulties. The 18-wheeler that was set to deliver the salt was delayed because of poor road conditions, with the help of local first responders the shipment did make it to Bantly’s.
“We were contacted that our delivery truck got stuck in the snow. So that kind of put us behind the eight ball a little bit. We’ve been getting a ton of calls if we’ve got our salt in.”
Bantly expects to sell nearly 5000 bags of salt by the end of Winter which would be the stores biggest salt sale in years.
Many customers entered the store, and bought 4-to-5 bags at a time.
Johncola says many customers are telling him that they cannot find salt anywhere. He says that they are doing everything they can to keep it on the shelves.
