The Blair County Airport Authority is celebrating the beginning of a flight service from the Blair County Airport to Charlotte North Carolina.
The flights will be provided by Contour Airlines.
With the transition to Charlotte, there will be enhanced flight connection opportunities, as they are partnering with Alaska Airlines and soon will be adding United Airlines
“When you think about the other airports nearby; State College does not have service to Charlotte and Johnstown has service East to West, but not South. So, Altoona really has a unique offering for the region in that we’re the easiest way South.”
Another benefit of the new contract will allow a plane to be stationed at the airport, allowing for early morning departures.
