Clearfield County Man Facing Charges On Selling Moonshine

A Clearfield County man is facing charges for allegedly selling moonshine out of an auto repair shop.

According to a probable-cause affidavit, last year officers bought multiple quarts of moonshine from 34-year-old Steven Scaife II, of Woodward Township, at Scaife’s Automotive & Repair in Osceola Mills.

According to the affidavit, Scaife admitted to officers that he runs an illegal moonshine business and that he has produced about 50 gallons of the liquor since 2022.

Scaife is charged with misdemeanors for the unlawful sale of liquor and distilling alcohol without a license.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 24 before District Judge Jerome Nevling, of Kylertown.
