Emergency officials in Cambria County say one person was transported to Conemaugh Hospital Sunday afternoon following a house fire in East Taylor Township.
Authorities say several area departments were dispatched to the blaze, just before 1 p.m., at a residence along the 900 block of William Penn Avenue.
Officials say crews were on scene for “most of the day” and the roadway was closed for several hours as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.
The East Taylor Township Volunteer Fire Company says the blaze was reportedly called in by a passerby and adds that the home was “full engulfed” when crews arrived on scene.
Fire officials say the home is “not livable” and a state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
Authorities added that a pet cat was also killed in the fire.
