New software by a company in Cambria County could help during emergencies at schools and businesses.
The designers say it’s the only software they know of that is able to provide specific directions in a matter of seconds based on the School District’s policy in emergency situations.
Tactical Threat Solutions Co-Owner Bob Haddad says the E.O.P. Assistant made to connect a school’s or business emergency operations plan to an app can give guidance for what the plan is in case of flooding, a fire, and an active shooter situation, among many other emergencies in less than ten seconds.
The software is just now being released but Greater Johnstown School District has been using it as a test for about a year.
The Safety and Security Coordinator at Johnstown says cases have come up where the E.O.P. Assistant has been used as recently as a few weeks ago.
He says it can save minutes in some cases and emphasise that every second is valuable in an emergency situation.
“The people that need to have access to that information have access to it. It’s not for the general public to be able to see these plans, but again, for our administrators to be able to save minutes versus having to run down totheir office, be able to try to locate that binder, scroll through that binder, in the matter of seconds we can pull that up on our phones or pull that up on our laptop.”
Officials also say the school can choose who has access to the information looking to make sure those safety procedures are not available to just anyone.
