Moshannon Valley High School Meeting

It was a full house in the auditorium of the Moshannon Valley High School Tonight.

Several concerned parents and students spoke, during the 90 minute emergency meeting and school board members, administrators, state police, and the Clearfield County District Attorney were all in attendance.

During Tonights meeting, school officials announced that school will be in session as scheduled on starting Tommorow.

The District Superintendent says there will be additional armed security as a precaution.

This comes after multiple reports of weapons in the school occurred over the last few days.

State Police say a 15 year old boy was taken into custody after a box cutter style knife was found in his backpack, causing all students to be sent home before Noon

During the meeting staff addressed the athletic teams, saying there will be procedures in place for student athletes, football players, volleyball players, and soccer players will use closets to lock up their belongings during school hours.

Many parents at tonight’s meeting accused the district administration of not being transparent, with some parents asking for metal detectors to be placed at the entrances to the school

“You should be aware in every situation we look to follow our discipline policy, the district follows a lateral discipline, and in situations like these, we use every option available that we are afforded.”

“I think the pants are on the fire right now, so I think they’re going to try to say what they can right now to get through this but do I feel like anything was Really addressed, that was even important to them, they might not take this very seriously, but we are.”

Due to safety concerns the district ordered 845 high quality clear, full size backpacks and each student will get one as they come to school early next week.

Students are able to use their own clear or mesh bags right away if they have them and lunch boxes are still good for elementary students to bring to school.
The Superintendent stressed that people should adhere to information given out by the Administration via the school resource officers or the State Police
