Penn State University Military Students who will be graduating this weekend getting recognized Tonight in Centre County.
Penn State’s Seventh Annual Military Honor Cord Ceremony was held Tonight at the Hintz Alumni Center.
Organizers say about 30 students were at the ceremony from Penn State University Park and Penn State World Campus.
The Red, White and Blue Honor Cords were given to graduates who are Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, currently serving on active duty, or serving in the reserves.
Almost 200 Honor Cords are given out each semester.
“There’s a lot of sacrifice that happens with military families and military service members so it’s important to recognize it as part of the journey in education that military service was part of it and so the honor cord recognizes that.”
The students are able to wear the military honor cords during Penn State’s Commencement Ceremonies which begin Tomorrow and go until Sunday.
