Sudden Bridge Closure

A bridge was immediately shut down in Cambria County after an Inspection on Thursday. A Supervisor for East Taylor Township says the Hinckston Run Bridge that’s off of Hunt Road was shut down because it is deemed “unsafe.” Officials say an Inspection revealed the support beams were rotted and it’s dangerous to drive over. They say the Hinckston Run Bridge will be closed until a permanent solution is found.

This is now the second bridge along the Hinckston Run Dam to close. Officials say it’s going to cost the municipalities possibly millions of dollars to fix the bridges. Rickey Price, East Taylor Township Supervisor saying: “Help’s needed to try to fix the infrastructure of these bridges especially this area because businesses now are being impacted by it because of travel time you and or they can even come to this area now deliver cause due to 40 minutes extra time with the cost of fuel expenses everything like that. so there’s a lot of things that’s impacting this of having these two bridges closed down.”

Officials are hoping the bridge will be fixed in time for Winter.
